Emperor Qin, also prince Zheng, was born in 259 BC. His father was king of the Qin state. When he was born, China was split up into 7 different states that fought with each other a lot. Prince Zheng was very well educated while growing up as a young prince. He learnt about Chinese history and war. One day when he grew up he would be the ruler of Qin and would conquer other states. When prince Zheng was 13 years of age his father died. By the time king Zheng was 22 years old he took full control of the Qin state, wanting to conquer the other states and unite china under 1 rule. King Zheng conquered the other states one by one first the Han state, he then conquered the Zhao and Wei states, after that he conquered the powerful Chu state. And finally he took out the Yan and Qi states and they indeed fell easily. After he conquered the states he became the ruler of China. Then he became Emperor and changed his name to Shi Huang which meant first emperor. He got so obsessed with living that he got his best scientists to find an elixir of immortality that would allow him to live eternally. Throughout his life, Qin Shi Huang ordered over 700,000 workers to construct a tomb for him to lie when he passed. These workers built a terracotta army of 8,000 soldiers, chariots and horses that he believed would protect him in the afterlife. This was one and still is one of the most famous tombs today. In 210 BC, Qin Shi Huang deceased for reasons which remain unknown to this day whilst travelling on a tour of Eastern China accompanied by his second son, Huhai. Many seem to believe that Qin Shi Huang died due to poisoning from a pill which was meant to make him live forever. Huhai yearned to become emperor, so he hid his father’s death and forged a letter to his older brother from his father requesting for him to commit suicide. Huhai’s older brother followed through with the request and committed suicide, and when he did, Huhai became emperor.
